(HealthDay News) -- Here are the latest clinical trials, courtesy of Thomson CenterWatch:
Diabetes - Type 2
This 26-week study will compare the effectiveness and safety of exenatide (Byetta) versus insulin (Novolog 70/30) in controlling blood glucose levels. Volunteers 18-80 who have had type 2 diabetes for at least six months, are not taking insulin, and are currently treating diabetes with two oral medications (metformin and a sulfonylurea) may qualify.
High Cholesterol (Hyperlipidemia)
This is a 3-month study of an investigational medication to lower cholesterol. If you are concerned about high cholesterol, you may qualify to receive study-related physical exams, electrocardiogram (ECG), nutritional and exercise counseling, laboratory tests and study drug, and routine clinic visits with a research coordinator and/or physician.
Post Menopause
This is a study for healthy females 18-65 who are either postmenopausal or have had a hysterectomy. Participants may not be taking any medications, and must have no history of HIV, cancer, stroke, Hepatitis B or C, diabetes, or hypertension.
